The Education of Dr. Gail Weingast Helps Patients

After receiving her medical degreefrom the Boston University School of Medicine in 1976, the newly minted Dr. Gail Weingast was aware that she had a lot more learning to do, and she put everything into that. Between then and 1983, she made sure she completed a pediatrics internship from 1976-1977 and a residency in pediatrics over the next two years, after which she also completed a residency in the field of radiology from 1980 to 1983 and a fellowship in the field of ultrasound in 1983, all at Colorado General Hospital in Denver.

Dr. Gail Weingast finally completed her post-graduate studies as a radiologist from 1983 to 1984 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver.Soon after, Dr. Gail Weingast worked at several other hospitals, primarily in the state of Colorado, although she also worked in New York for a bit. Eventually, she settled into her current position, as a radiology professional at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, where she has now been for nearly a quarter century. In that time, she has guided her department be among the premiere medical facilities in New England.

The Long Medical Career of Dr. Gail Weingast

Soon after she completed her medical school education at Boston University in 1976 and then went on too complete a series of internships, residencies and fellowships at hospitals in the Denver area, Dr. Gail Weingast then practiced radiology at several other hospitals in Colorado and also in New York, until she settled into her current position in Connecticut. These days, Dr. Weingast is best known as a highly regarded radiology specialist at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, where she is the Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging.

By now, Dr. Gail Weingast has become an institution at Backus Hospital; that is a product of her more than two decades there. In that time, she has been able to use her position to transform her radiology department into one of the best anywhere, which has, in turn, transformed the hospital into a premiere medical facility. There is no doubt that her more than four decades of knowledge and experience that has given her the ability to do that. Her career path hasn’t always been a straight line; it even started with a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish before she switched over to medicine a few years later. The rest is, of course, a good history.

In order to be a radiologist, one must earn a medical degree as well as certifications in order to succeed in the field. Gail Weingast MD did not know when she set out in the medical field that she would end up going into the field of radiology. In fact, she began her residencies in the specialty of pediatrics before going into the field of radiology. And now, for twenty plus years, Gail Weingast MD has worked as a radiologist earning herself the title of Chief of Ultrasound, and Chief of Breast imaging at the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut.
